What we offer

The Faculty of Pharmacy's research laboratories are run through ACUTAB and open to university and industry researchers. The Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Drug Metabolism Laboratory offers in vitro drug metabolite determination and mass-spectrum analysis of organic drugs; the Pharmacology and Toxicology Laboratory offers cytotoxicity testing (ISO 10993-5, MTT, NRU, LDH), ocular and skin irritation and corrosion tests (OECD TG 492, 439, 431); the Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy Laboratory offers HPTLC, GC-MS and GC-FID analysis of plant material and essential oils; the Pharmaceutical Technology and Cosmetology Laboratory offers dynamic and static light scattering (Zetasizer, Mastersizer), rheometry, lyophilisation, UV-Vis, FT-IR, LC-MS/MS and preparative HPLC; and the Pharmaceutical Microbiology Laboratory offers sterility and bioburden testing of medical devices (EN ISO 11737) and antibacterial activity of surfaces (ISO 22196).

The laboratories support the FAR, ACUNAT and ACU-FUNCHEM research groups and the Drug discovery & natural products theme.

  • Drug metabolism and analysis

    In vitro metabolite determination, mass spectrometry, HPLC-DAD, LC-MS/MS.

  • Pharmacology and toxicology

    Cytotoxicity, irritation and corrosion testing to ISO and OECD guidelines.

  • Pharmacognosy

    HPTLC, GC-MS, GC-FID analysis of natural products.

  • Technology and cosmetology

    Particle sizing, zeta potential, rheometry, lyophilisation, formulation.
