Clinical research

Overview

Clinical research comprises scientific studies conducted to generate medical knowledge, answer scientific questions, identify more effective methods for preventing and treating diseases, and evaluate the safety, efficacy and side effects of new medicines, medical devices, diagnostic methods and treatment approaches before they enter routine practice. At Acıbadem University it is carried out in the two training and research hospitals, Atakent and Maslak, and across the Acıbadem Healthcare Group.

Clinical Trials Support and Follow-up Committee (KlinikAr)

KlinikAr has operated since October 2019 to facilitate Phase II, III and IV clinical trials. It provides compliance with current Good Clinical Practice standards and the technical and operational support needed at every step, with a team of experienced professionals within the institution, and was established to increase the number of clinical trials within the Acıbadem Healthcare Group and to monitor processes legally and financially for researchers and hospital management. Its aim is an environment in which clinicians are less concerned with the aspects of a trial beyond the scientific protocol.

Members represent the Medical Directorate, the Dean of the School of Medicine, Planning and Business Development (pricing and contract management), Progress Payment and System Development, and the Legal Department. The board evaluates each drafted project operationally and financially, builds the business plan with interested parties, guides the preparations before and after Clinical Research Ethics Committee approval, supports contract and protocol correspondence, arranges logistics and human-resources support during the study, and meets four times a year for regular review. Clinical research, medical-device investigations, stem-cell studies and observational studies with human medicinal products are evaluated by the Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University Clinical Research Ethics Committee (TİTCK code 2025-KAEK-51, approved 11 July 2025). Details, scope, calendar, forms and fees are on Ethics committees.
