Research theme 03 / 06
Biosensors, functional materials, tissue engineering and medical-device testing, built on the Biomaterials Application and Research Center.

Assoc. Prof. Özgül Gök Özatay
Biomaterials are materials designed to support, replace or take over the functions of tissues and organs; they can be metals, ceramics, natural or synthetic polymers, or composites. At ACU this work is anchored in the Biomaterials Application and Research Center and the Biosensors and Computational Biomedicine Laboratory (ACU-BCBL), which develops next-generation biosensor platforms supported by machine learning and advanced materials engineering.
The Electron Microscopy Laboratory (FEG-SEM and TEM), the In Vitro Biocompatibility and Medical Device Testing laboratories and the Biodesign Center's prototyping workshop make it possible to take a material from synthesis to a tested device.
