Materials that support, replace or take over the functions of tissues and organs: synthesis, characterisation and testing.
What we offer
Biomaterials are materials designed to support, replace or fully take over the functions of tissues and organs in the human body. They do not have to be of biological origin; they can be made from metals, ceramics, natural or synthetic polymers, or composites of these. The Biomaterials Application and Research Center is the university's home for this work and hosts the ACU Biosensors and Computational Biomedicine Laboratory.
Together with the Electron Microscopy Laboratory, the In Vitro Biocompatibility Laboratory and the Medical Device Testing Laboratory, the centre lets a material be followed from synthesis to a tested device.
