What we offer

The university's Basic Research Laboratories give researchers and partner companies a complete bench-to-prototype route: the Cell Culture, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Electrophoresis and Western Blot, In Vitro Biocompatibility, Bioproduction, Microscopy, Nanobiotechnology, and Chromatography and Spectroscopy laboratories; the Biomaterials Application and Research Center; the Medical Device Testing Laboratory; and the pharmaceutical laboratories for pharmaceutical chemistry and drug metabolism, pharmacology and toxicology, pharmacognosy and phytotherapy, and pharmaceutical technology and cosmetology.

The laboratories operate under the Test and Analysis Unit (ACUTAB), established within the university's research policy as a scientific research and analysis centre with modern instruments for university and industry researchers. ACUTAB carries out research and analysis to national and international standards and aims to support researchers through product development and production.

  • Cell culture

    Automated cell counting by flow-cytometry principle, live-cell imaging, electroporation and gene transfection.

  • Molecular biology and microbiology

    Electrophoresis, Western blot and microbiological testing.

  • Biocompatibility and device testing

    In vitro biocompatibility and medical-device testing for materials and prototypes.

  • Chromatography and spectroscopy

    Qualitative and quantitative analysis for pharmaceutical and natural-product work.

  • Automated cell counter RWD C100-SE Live and dead cell counting by flow cytometry with bright-field and fluorescence channels; 10–100 µl samples, 6-second counts, 1–200 µm range, 5 MP camera.
  • Live-cell imaging system Invitrogen EVOS M5000 Bright-field, phase-contrast and fluorescence imaging with plan-apochromat optics; cell viability, counting, localisation and RNAi analysis.
  • Electroporation and transfection system Lonza 4D-Nucleofector Gene transfer and protein expression in a wide range of cell types; 16 electrode options; 96-well automation.
