What we work on

Nature has been one of humanity's most important sources of medicine, and the combination of its biodiversity with today's technology has made natural-product research a growing field. Türkiye, with its rich flora and its history as home to many civilisations, holds an important repertoire of traditional remedies, which makes the production and dissemination of validated scientific knowledge about them more important than ever.

ACUNAT was founded in the Faculty of Pharmacy in 2025 to conduct scientific research on natural health products and to develop new solutions for modern medicine. Its research areas are the identification of bioactive components from plant and other natural sources and the evaluation of their potential as drug candidates; the scientific basis of herbal and natural products used in traditional treatment; and quality-control analysis of products sold on the market under various labels and claims. The group works with a wide range of pharmacological activity models and with qualitative and quantitative chromatographic analysis.

ACUNAT opens its doors to all researchers, academics and undergraduate and graduate students interested in natural health products.
