Assoc. Prof. Timur Hakan Barak works in the Department of Pharmacognosy and is a core member of ACUNAT, the Acıbadem University Natural Health Products Research Group founded in the Faculty of Pharmacy in 2025. The group identifies bioactive components from plant and other natural sources and evaluates their potential as drug candidates, examines the scientific basis of traditional remedies, and runs quality-control analyses of products sold on the market.

Recent publications cover Rubus creticus root extract and calcium oxalate crystallisation, Astragalus noeanus saponins and glucose metabolism, Phlomis kurdica emulgels, and a survey of commercial pine turpentine essential oils against the European Pharmacopoeia.
